Example In-Person Course Description:
Week 1 - Introductions, Basic Stitches & Granny Squares
This week will cover how to hold your tools, the knit stitch and touches on the importance of tension. Students will learn how to make a small ‘Granny’ Square using Garter Stitch. Students will also learn a rhyme to help them with knitting -- great for all ages! Students will leave with their guidebook in hand. Please complete Granny squares by next class session.
Week 2 - Beginning your Project
We will begin our projects! Madeline will assist all students by casting-on their projects for them. Casting-on may be hard for younger beginners and can be taught later (it's also broken down in the guidebook!) Students have the opportunity to ask questions and get help. Purl stitch may be taught at this time for anyone who's ready to take it to the next level and want to use stockinette stitch in their project.
Week 3 - Mid-Project check-in & focus time
This is dedicated focus time for students to knit & ask for help. You can expect personal attention to help identify and fix any beginner knitting whoopsie-daisies (aka happy accidents).
Week 4 - Finishing touches & accessorizing!
Together, we will weave in our ends. Depending on the students’ projects, we can make tassels for scarves or add a pom-pom to the beanie. Madeline will help students by teaching them how to make these fun accessories & then showing students how to attach them to their project.
